Kaempferia galanga, commonly known as aromatic ginger or kencur (Indonesian). That is a type of rhizome. The green leaves grow close to each other. Leaf stalks are very short. We can't see it if we don't remove the leaves. The flowers are white-purple and have a slight yellow spot in the middle.

Several Herbal Medicines Recipes from Kencur

Kencur Rice (Beras Kencur) for Immune Stimulation
Material:
- Rice 1 tablespoon
- 2 glasses of clean water
- 3-4 pieces of kencur rhizomes
- 1 tablespoon rock sugar or a small piece of brown sugar

How to make:
1. Wash the rice then soak for at least 6 hours.
2. Once the rice is ready to use, mash the washed kecur.
3. Boil all with 2 glasses of water and add rock sugar or brown sugar.
4. Add pandan leaves to the stew if you like.
5. After one glass of boiled water remains, turn off the stove.
6. After it has cooled slightly, add the rice and kencur along with the water into a blender glass, then puree.
7. Strain the solution so that the dregs are separated from the water.
8. Drink kencur rice while it is warm. This recipe can produce kencur rice for two people.

Treating Dry Cough
Take the old galangal rhizome. Peel and wash. Chew with a little salt then swallow.

Treating Bruises
Take one spoon of rice and soak it for 1 hour. Pound the rice with a piece of galangal rhizome until smooth. Place the impact on the bruised part.

Planting Kencur

It would be better if we let the kencur rhizomes sprout first before planting. Kencur shoots will grow if we pile the rhizomes in a damp place. Kencur plants can be planted in pots or in the yard. Loose and slightly sandy soil is very suitable for planting kencur.
